Софии, в честь 125-летия освобождения Болгарии от османского ига. Открытие стало символом восстановления русско - болгарских связей. На церемонии присутствовали мэр г. Москвы Ю.М. Лужков и мэр г. Софии В. Софиянски, представители патриархии. 30 мая 2003 года, в честь 300 - летия Санкт - Петербурга, премьер-министр Канады Ж. Кретьен открыл и передал в дар городу бюст поэта Э. Неллигана от имени правительства Канады. В 2002 году, 24 июня, губернатор В. Яковлев от имени Санкт-Петербурга вручил мэру г. Квебека (Канада) бронзовые бюсты великих поэтов: А. Пушкина и Э. Неллигана. В 2001 году установлен памятник «Миру» - памятник предвидение, в Турции. По композиции памятник очень точно напоминает башни - близнецы в Нью - Йорке. В 2001 году в г. Демре (Турция) установлен памятник «Начало». В виде буквы «А», которая символизирует начало всего. В 2000 году в г. Москве установлен бюст Сигизмунду Герберштейну от имени правительства Словении и президента "общества друзей Прешерна" Юста Ругеля в дар России. Это первый и единственный памятник великому европейцу, дипломату и государственному деятелю, писателю, «открывшему» в XVI веке Россию для Европы (автор «Записок о Московии») В 2000 году от Рождества Христова в мусульманской Турции был установлен памятник Николаю Чудотворцу - одному из самых ярких представителей христианства. Памятник установлен на центральной площади г. Демре. На открытии присутствовали главы правительства Турции, представители из 50 стран мира, духовные лидеры всех религиозных конфессий, представители Московской Патриархии. 5 мая 1996 года - в честь 300 - летия российского флота, покровителем которого почитается Святой Андрей Первозванный, в г. Коломне был установлен памятник апостолу. В торжественной церемонии участвовали адмиралы и контр-адмиралы флота: Родионов, Касатонов и др. Впервые в России устанавливается памятник апостолу и отдается дань тому, под знаком кого проходит все культурное развитие России. В 1994 году, в тот момент, когда последний русский солдат покидал Германию, под Дюссельдорфом, город Хэммер, был установлен памятник А.С. Пушкину (h-280см, бронза, гранит) - знак сближения культур и единства целостности мира. На церемонии открытия присутствовали бургомистр Хэммера - Клаус Бурда и глава города Щелково Пашин Н.П. . . . About His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II Archbishop of Mtskheta - Tbilisi, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II (secular name: Irakli Gudushauri - Shiolashvili), Archbishop of Mtskheta -Tbilisi, Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia, was born on January 4, 1933, in Vladicaucas. His parents came from the Kazbegi region, Georgia. His father, Giorgi Shiolashvili was from the village of Sno and his mother, Natalia Kobaidze - from Sioni. In 1927 the couple moved to Vladikavkaz, where they purchased a house in which the future Patriarch of Georgia was born (six years later). They baptised their three-day-old baby in a Georgian Church at Christmas and christened him Irakli in honour of Erekle II, the King of Georgia. In 1952 Irakli Shiolashvili finished the secondary school #22 in Vladicaucas and continued his education first at the Moscow Theological Seminary and then at the Moscow Theological Academy. In 1957, while a graduate student of the Theological Academy, Irakli Shiolashvili, professed his monastic vows with the blessing of Melkisedek III, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia. He was given the name Ilia in honour of the Holy Prophet Elias. He was soon ordained hierodeacon and then, in 1959 - hieromonk. In 1960, hieromonk Ilia graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy. He was asked to continue his research studies at the Academy but because of the lack of clergy in Georgia he returned to his homeland and was assigned to the Batumi Cathedral Church as a priest. In 1961, in recognition of his devoted ministry, he was elevated to the rank of Hegoumen and then that of Archimandrite. On August 26, 1963, with the blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude, Ephrem II, Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia he was consecrated Bishop of Shemokmedi and appointed Patriarchal Vicar. In 1963 - 1972 he was the first rector of the Mtskheta Theological Seminary - the only theological seminary in Georgia at that time. In 1967 Bishop Ilia was transferred to the Abkhazeti Diocese. In 1969 he was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan. On November 9, 1977, following the repose of David V, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the Holy Synod appointed Metropolitan Ilia locum tenens of the Patriarchal Throne. On December 23, 1977 he was elected the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia. On December 25 he was enthroned and given the name Ilia II. (Ilia I ruled 1600 years ago, in AD 390-400). From 1978 - 1983, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II was Co-President of the World Council of Churches (WCC). His Holiness has received the highest Church awards from Patriarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Orthodox Churches of Antioch, Jerusalem, Alexandria, Russia, Georgia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Czechoslovakia and almost all other Orthodox Churches. In 1986 Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II was conferred a Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from St. Vladimir's Theological Seminary in New York as well as from the Academy of Sciences in Crete, (1997). In the same year His Holiness was elected an actual member of the International Academy of Informatization at the United Nations Organisation. In May 1998, he was conferred a Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from the St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania.
