| Saddamuel ::: Favorites I'm optimistic about our resourcefullness. Other forms of energy are becoming cheaper and more efficient every day and they will replace the old ones as these become less profitable. Maybe I'm wrong and armageddon is upon us! 07-06-26 23:58:12 __________________________________________________ | |
| Saddamuel ::: Favorites When systems become too complex for us to understand we tend to imagine there is some intelligence behind it all. Like a creator god or the secret powers of conspiracy theories. Each individual is responsible for themselves and each individual is to blame for their reality. It's less complicated to imagine that there is some puppet master than to accept that it's unplanned chaos which even leaders must react to rather than knowingly guide. 07-06-26 23:58:30 __________________________________________________ | |
| gratex ::: Favorites Of course there is an intelligence behind the big deals within our society. It's a heirarchical structure from top to bottom. Each individual is responsible for themselves and all are to blame for this reality, for it is a shared one. It is a game of competition over percentages, and right now 95% of the population of this planet are squabbling over the 5% of the wealth that the excessively rich allow us to have. 07-06-27 08:37:10 __________________________________________________ | |
| Saddamuel ::: Favorites I think you're completely wrong. There are people at the top but they don't create the system they have just flourished in it. The alternative to intellectual property rights and ownership is massive redistribution of wealth which doesn't work. The profits of success and hard work need to be natural and not handed down by some commitee which analyses how worthy a person is. A pinch of Socialism and a pinch of Capitalism in the pot make for a tasty dish. 07-06-27 15:19:01 __________________________________________________ | |
| gratex ::: Favorites Yes, you're talking extremes again, I'm not calling for state control of everyone's financial affairs, im saying... socialism is better for the system than a big lump of capitalism. 07-06-27 15:37:39 __________________________________________________ | |
| gratex ::: Favorites "I'm optimistic about our resourcefullness" I don't like the thought of gambling on the future of our civilisation. 07-06-27 08:32:52 __________________________________________________ | |
| Saddamuel ::: Favorites As opposed to what? What wouldn't be a gamble? There are some pretty amazing renewable technologies being developed and more time and money will be invested in them as they become more necessary and profitable compared to fossil fuels. I'm optimistic in that I think it is inevitable that we will find a way to muddle through any problem which faces us. If all else fails we always have nuclear power to fall back on don't we? 07-06-27 15:15:39 __________________________________________________ | |
| temujoe ::: Favorites then as fuel and food prices go up (as they both have been already), ppl will be forced to reduce fuel consumption, cuz they'll have to choose between food and fuel. I think it's gonna be a bitch, everything'll have to change unless alternative non-oil type energies can affordably facilitate everyone's transition. 07-06-25 00:08:03 __________________________________________________ | |
| temujoe ::: Favorites get some sleep man. seems like as petroleum declines, ethanol-type crops might come into play, and genetic crops can come into play, as they won't have to be consumed by humans, so as long as they grow mad fast, they'll be accepted as fuel. 07-06-25 00:03:35 __________________________________________________ | |
