| VIEWTIFULJOEhmd ::: Favorites 2007-11-15 03:29:03 No man What I was REALLY trying to say (and re-reading my comment I see I did a REALLY bad job ryin to explain) is that Megas XLR is a spoof. __________________________________________________ | |
| VIEWTIFULJOEhmd ::: Favorites 2007-11-15 03:27:02 Yeah, I don't really consider it a... What? 'complete' anime, I could say. Yeah, forget about what I said it being anime. But, I don't know, I think I said it was because of where Jack's from in the story line that sorta affected my oppinion, y'know? __________________________________________________ | |
| Tdemon ::: Favorites 2007-11-01 19:05:22 Oh, no, I wasn't scared of saying that. I was joking because they were all weirded out by Samurai Jack being made by Russians. I decided to throw that in. __________________________________________________ | |
| Hostile ::: Favorites 2007-10-30 21:45:03 Megas XLR has spoofed everything from Power Rangers to Pimp My Ride, it doesn't devotedly rotate around anime. Anime is really just animation with only two distinguishing features: it originates from Japan, and it has certain narrative and visual aspects which identify it. I can't think of any non-Japanese products which accurately emulate those aspects. While XLR might occasionally make direct reference to some anime, it never attempts to replicate the traditions of the medium. __________________________________________________ | |
| VIEWTIFULJOEhmd ::: Favorites 2007-10-30 21:23:17 I think in some way, and I know you might think I'm wrong, but Megas XLR is an anime. It's purpose was to make fun of anime, so in a way it is. The giant robot is to spoof all the Gundam series among others. Some of the episodes are also purely made to spoof other anime. Anime isn't just Japanese. It's just that Japan made so much more anime that our minds are set to think "Not Japanese, Not Anime". __________________________________________________ | |
| royalpain88 ::: Favorites 2007-10-30 08:51:26 Look it up on Youtube. It is by far the BEST anime I'd ever seen. If you are a military nut like me. It is far mor epic than Star Wars and, in regard to the space battles, BETTER!!! __________________________________________________ | |
| Hostile ::: Favorites 2007-10-30 04:28:09 Gothic? It's dark, sure, but I don't think it's gothic. Pokemon was probably the cheapest anime when I was a kid, I've got no idea what it looks like now. And no, I've never heard of Galactic Heroes. __________________________________________________ | |
